An English recording artist, dancer, songwriter as well as television personality Cheryl Cole was born on 30th June, 1983 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England and was grown up on council estates in the neighboring districts of Walker and Heaton. Cheryl is the daughter of Joan Callaghan and Garry Tweedy who was born as Cheryl Ann Tweedy. Her parents were together for more than a decade but they were never married.
They got separated when Cole was at the age of eleven. From her early age, she was interested in dancing. She began sequence dancing at the age of four. She then joined The Royal Ballet’s summer school when she was nine years old. As a teenager, her inspiration was Britney Spears. In addition, Cole has won many modeling competitions and has also appeared in several advertisements which also includes a pair of nationally televised commercials for British Gas.
He had her breakout moment in the year 2002 when she was at the age of 19. She auditioned for the United Kingdom talent show Popstars: The Rivals. She then joined Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberly Walsh to form a new girl group named Girls Aloud. Shortly after that, their first single Sound of the Underground was released which went straight in at number one claiming the 2002 Christmas number one.
They released their debut album Sound of the Underground in May of 2003. The group became one of the few UK reality television acts to achieve continued success. They were listed as “Most Successful Reality TV Group” by Guinness World Records in the 2007 edition. Cole announced on April 2009 that she intends to launch a solo career and that she would release a solo album before Girls Aloud’snext album which was scheduled for 2010.
She released her debut album titled 3 Words in the UK on 26th October, 2009. The same year in July, the group announced that they would take a year long hiatus in the pursuit of solo projects but would reunite in 2010 for their new studio album. Cole released her first single Promise This from her second album Messy Little Raindrops on 24th October, 2010. He third studio album titled A Million Lights was released on 18th June, 2012. In an interview with Hello! Magazine on 27th May, 2014, she announced that her fourth studio album would be release in November. In another interview with The Graham Norton Show, she revealed that her fourth studio album would be entitled Only Human.
Prior to that, as a TV personality, she was chosen to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge of X Factor in 2008. She was chosen to mentor the girls category and led Alexandra Burke to victory. The following year, she was again selected to return in the sixth season of the show where she joined Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh on the judging panel. It was announced on 10th March, 2014 that Cole would return as a judge on the UK version of The X Factor for its eleventh series.
It was confirmed on 5th May, 2011 that Cole would appear on the American version of the X Factor as a judge but after three weeks on the show, she left. Later, it was confirmed that she would not return on the show. Instead, she focused on her music and released her first single from her third album Call My Name on 10th June, 2012. Later, it was followed by her third album A Million Lights on 18th June, 2012.
To talk about her personal life, Cole was previously married to England and Chelsea football player Ashley Cole. They began dating each other in September of 2004 and they also announced their engagement after Ashley proposed to her in June 2005 in Dubai. The couple got married on 15th July, 2006 at a ceremony at Barnet, North West London. In addition, the also signed an exclusive deal with OK! Magazine, reportedly worth $1 regarding the rights of their wedding photographs. Cole announced on 23rd February, 2010 that she was getting separate from her husband. She filed for divorce on 26th May at London’s High Court.
On 3rd September, 2010, she was granted a decree nisi. The same year in October, in an interview with The Guardian, Cole stated that she would continue to use her married name as changing it back would make her seem “ashamed” of her marriage. She then went on to date Derek Hough who is a professional dancer and choreographer. After that she again started dating an American dancer Tre Holloway. Later, after splitting with Tre, she began to date ‘French Playboy’ Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in May of 2014. The couple got married on 7th July, 2014.
She was ranked #2 and #7 in FHM 100 sexiest women in the year 2005 and 2008 respectively. She is the huge fan of The Black Eyed Peas. Additionally, she has also appeared on the cover of Vogue in Britain. Besides, she has contributed to many charities as a member of a Girls Aloud. As a group, they did a cover of The Pretenders’ I’ll Stand by You”. She launched her own charitable foundation with The Prince’s Trust in February 2011. The Cheryl Cole Foundation will provide vital fund for The Trust in the North East helping disadvantaged young people from Cole’s region. She also auctioned 20 dresses with ASOS on 13th June 2011 to raise the funds for the foundation.
