An English artistic gymnast Claudia Fragapane was born on 24th October 1997 in Bristol, United Kingdom. She is of Italian descent. She is mostly known as the 2014 Commonwealth Gamers All-Around Champion, 2014 English National Vault Champion and 2014 European silver medalist with the team.
Claudia made her elite debut at the 2011 English Junior Championships. There, she placed fourth on vault and floor, fifth in the all-round and sixth on the beam. In addition, she has also competed at an international of Isle of Man where she won team and all-around gold and also won a silver in the all-around at the UK School Games.
Claudia made her international debut in France at the Coupe Avenir. There, she won team and vault gold. She then went on to win silver on vault, placed fourth on beam and fifth on floor and in the all-around at British Championships.
In the year 2013, she was also selected to compete at the World School Games in Brazil. There, she scored personal best in the all-round helping the team to win the bronze medals and making all four apparatus finals. Due to the injuries, Claudia was kept out of the competition for the most of the year. It caused her to miss her first senior English and British Championships.
Later, she got recovered and also was named to the British team for the Elite Gym Massilia in the month of November. Later, on December, she competed at the Brasilia Gymnasiade where she won bronze with her team and placed fifth on vault and floor, sixth on beam and seventh on bars and in all-around.
She was selected for the European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships which was held in Sofia, Bulgaria where she overall had a successful competition contributing to a silver medal winning performance in the Team competition.
Claudia’s breakout came at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She contributed on all four events in the team final where the English team won the gold medal. She was not only the First English gymnast to win all-around at the Commonwealth Games, but her teammates, Ruby Harrold, and Hannah Whelan also took second and third place.
Standing at the height of four feet and six inch, Claudia is a powerful gymnast. Claudia is the first to win the four gold medals in a single Games since the year 1930. She has now entered the race for BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Claudia is now at the age of 16 and her best events are vault and floor exercise.
