An Italian professional tennis player Camila Giorgi was born on 30th December, 1991 in Macerata, Italy. Her father Sergio Giorgi and wife Claudia both are from La Plata in Argentina from where they immigrated to Italy. Camila’s mother is a fashion designer who designs all her feminine tennis outfits which is of different design for each match. She has two boether and a sister. As a child, Camila was into artistic gymnastics. Camila began to play tennis when she was at the age of five at the local club. She was introduced to tennis by her father.
Camila began her professional career in the year 2006. She obtained her first significant results by reaching two semi-finals in Baku and Jakarta. That year, she closed with 10 wins and 7 losses and was ranked 944 in the WTA. In 2008, Camila started to play several tournaments in France. While there, she reached her best WTA ranking and entered the top 600.
She played few tournaments at the beginning of 2009 season but she failed to qualify for the main draw. She then achieved her first important results in the month of April when she got qualified for and also reached the quarter finals of two $25,000 tournaments. She ended the year 2009 with 33 wins and 12 losses and reached at the number 285 in the WTA rankings.
Camila Giorgi reached the semi-finals in February of 2011 in two ITF tournaments but her best result came in the month of May when she reached the final of a $50,000 tournament. At Wimbledon, in June, she passed the qualifiers and reached to her first appearance in a major tournament. She lost in the first round to Tsvetana Pironkova. Before closing the year, she reached the semi-finals in two other tournaments with 36 wins and 21 defeats.
She had her best professional wins at the 2013 US Open and 2014 BNP Paribas Open as well as 2014 Aegon International where she defeated former world number 1 players Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka respectively. Camila Giorgi reached her best singles ranking of world number 42 in 16th June, 2014. Camila reached to the final of the Nike Junior Tour in November of 2005 where she was defeated by Slovakia’s Zuzana Luknarova. Camila Giorgi has won five singles titles on the ITF tour in her career till now.
