An American actress Jami Gertz was born on 28th October 1965 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. Her parents Sharyn and Walter Gertz were a builder and contractor. As a child, she was named as Jami Beth Gertz. She also has two brothers named Michael and Scott. Jami is Jewish and she was raised in Conservative Judaism. She attended Maine East High School in Park Ridge and got graduated from there in 1983. She then went on to major in drama at New York University.
In early 1980s, Jami won a talent search sponsored by Norman Lear. Jami made her film debut in Endless Love in which she played a tiny part. The following year, she starred on the high school TV series Square Pegs along with Sarah Jessica Parker. She also made several guest appearances on The Facts of Life. After the cancellation of Square Pegs, she appeared in the teen movie titled Sixteen Candles in 1984.
She also appeared in the films such as Solarbabies, Less Than Zero and The Lost Boys. Jami moved to France for few years and worked as a scent designer for Lanvin. She then returned and resumed her acting career in the late 1980 and early 1990s. After that, Gertz guest starred in television programs such as Sibs, E.R., Seinfeld, Ally McBeal, Still Standing, Shark, and Entourage. She landed a key supporting role in the 1996 blockbuster film Twister and Keeping Up with the Steins.
After Mking several TV movies, she portrayed the role of legendary comedienne Gilda Radner in the ABC special It’s always Something: The Gilda Radner Story. She starred as Brandy in 2003 who is a wanted criminal’s girlfriend in Undercover Christmas. She also played a lead role in 2005 in a TV film Fighting the Odds: The Marilyn Gambrell Story. She earned a producers’ credit on the Academy Award-nominated film A Better Life in 2011.
As of 2012, Gertz starred in the ABC sitcom The Neighbors in which she plays the role of the mother of a human family that moves into a neighborhood populated by residents from another planet. Her other filmography includes Family Ties, Alphabet City, Dreams, Mischief, Quicksilver, Crossroads, Listen to Me, Silence Like Glass, Shark, and Modern Family.
To talk about her personal life, Jami is married to her husband Anthony Ressler. The couple got married on 16th June, 1989. They have three sons together. Jami gave birth to her first child in 6th May, 1992 and named Oliver Jordan Ressler. Later on 17th February, 1995 second son named Nicholas Simon Ressler was born. Their third son was born in the year 1998 whom they named Theo Ressler. Currently, Jami is residing in the exclusive Beverly Park community with her family and they also have a vacation home in Malibu, California.
Apart from that, Jami and her husband are the members of the investment group led by Mark Attanasio that purchased the MLB franchise Milwaukee Brewers. Gertz-Ressler High School which is a member of The Alliance for College-ready Public School is named after Jami and her husband. Additionally, in the year 2011, Jami and her husband has been named the number one donor to charity of any celebrity in 2010 by the Giving Back Fund.
