A German football player Thomas Muller was born on 13th September, 1989 in Weilheim in Oberbayern, West Germany. Currently, he plays for the Bayern Munich and the German National Team. He is the son of Klaudia and Gerhard. He has one brother named Simon who is two and half years younger than him.
Muller began his youth career in 1993 with TSV Pahl. He then joined the Bayern Munich youth team in the year 2000. He progressed through the youth system and became the part of a team that finished runner-up in the U-19 Bundesliga in 2007. On 15th August, 2008, Muller made his debut in Bundesliga when he caem on as a substitute for Miroslav Klose for the last ten minutes of a Bundesliag match against Hamburger SV. Muller signed his first contract for the senior team in February of 2009. It was a two year deal which was effective from the 2009-10 season. That season, Muller was named as the best Bundesliga rookie of the year with 13 goals and 10 assists.
Prior to that, Muller has represented Germany at various youth levels. He started playing for the national team in the year 2004 with U16. He was the called up for the U21 team in August 2009. His debut match was in a 3-1 friendly defeat against Turkey on 11th August. The following year, on 3rd March, he was called-up from the national team. His first match for Germany was at his home stadium, Allianz Arena against Argentina.
He was named in Germany’s provisional 27-man squad for the 2010 World Cup along with seven other Bayern Munich players. He scored his first international goal in the tournament opener against Australia where Germany won 4-0. Muller scored 5 goals in six appearances in the tournament as Germany finished in third place. He was then honored not only as a best goal scorer but also as a best young player of the tournament.
He was also selected in the squad for Euro 2012 but unfortunately, they were knocked out by Italy in the semi-final round. Additionally, he was also selected in the squad playing for 2014 FIFA World Cup. Muller scored the first hat trick in 16th June, 2014 in the Germany’s opening match of 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was then named man of the match in a 4-0 win against Portugal. Besides, he has also been the target of Pepe’s headbutt in the 37th minutes of the game.
He also scored the opening goal for Germany on 8th July, in the win of 7-1 semi final game against Brazil. He was also named on the 10-man shortlist for FIFA’s Golden Ball award for the tournament’s best player on 11th July. Germany won the 2014 FIFA World Cup on 13th July, 2014 in which they defeat Argentina by 3-0 win.
To talk about his personal life, Muller is married to his girlfriend Lisa Trede who is a German model and semi-professional equestrian. After being engaged for two years, the couple got married in December of 2009. Standing tall at the height of six feet and one inch, Muller has been praised for his maturity, technique, pace, awareness and positioning. In addition, he became an ambassador for Young Wings in June 2011. It is a charity which helps children who have suffered bereavement of trauma.
