A Brazilian race car driver Tony Kanaan was born on 31st December, 1974 in Salvador, Brazil. He is of Lebanese ancestry. He speaks Portuguese, English, Italian as well as some Spanish. As a child, he was named as Antoine Rizkallah Kanaan Filho. His father died when he was at the age of thirteen. Kanaan started to race go-carts when he was at the age of eight.
Tony Kanaan started his racing in the year 1994 by winning the Italian Europa Boxer series title. Later in 1997, Tony became the Indy Lights Champion. Tony scored his first major victory in 1999 in the Champ car World Series where he won the U.S. 500 at the Michigan International Speedway for Forsythe Championship Racing.
Tony Kanaan began to race for Mo Nunn Racing in 2000. He remained with them until 2002. After that, he started to race for Andretti Green which made him won numbers of races. In the year 2004, he was ranked 1st, 2nd in 2005 and 3rd in 2007 and 2008. He remained with Andretti until 2011.
He then moved to KV Racing Technology and began to race for them. He won the 97th Indianapolis 500 on 26th May 2013 which was his first Indy Victory. While he was in the process of leaving KV Racing Technology, he got an offer to first drive in NASCAR Nationwide Series from NASCAR team Joe Gibbs Racing and later NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Apart from that, Kanaan has also made his appearance in the film. He appeared as himself in the 2001 film Driven in a scene where several drivers prepare for their final race of the season at Detroit. The FedEx CART Championship Series was used for the film which was raced in at the time for Mo Nunn Racing.
In addition to that, Kanaan is also a playable driver in 2000 arcade game CART Fury which is based on the 1999 in the #44 Kanaan car. He is also a playable driver for the Play Station 2, Xbox and Microsoft Windows in the 2004 console fame Indycar Series 2005.
To talk about his personal life, Tony has married twice. Previously, he was married to Daniela Muniz Loiola. They had one son named Leo. Due to some reason, they got divorced. Currently, Tony is married to his long time girlfriend Lauren Bohlander who is a host, actress as well as television reporter. The couple dated each other for two years and got married on 8th March 2013.
Standing at the height of five feet and five inch, Tony’s net worth is estimated as $20 million. Besides, because of the race day superstition, Tony always wears his right shoe at first before a race and he gets into the car from left side.
